Does your man have a little image problem?
Not sure how to help?
You want him to look good from head to toe, but without spending a fortune right?
Here are our top tips for getting together a basic must-have wardrobe for your man!
Shirts. He should own at least one crisp, white, high-quality, cotton shirt, he just can’t go wrong with that. Invest in one with a full-fashion collar that he can wear with or without a tie. This way he can wear it to work or out at night. Button-up dress shirts are generally good choices for everyday shirts, as long as you buy high-quality and basic, subtle colours.
Try to encourage him to wear a short-sleeve, white T-shirt under his shirts and sweaters. It will help protect his tops from sweat and deodorant stains.
Trousers. If you’re on a budget, there are three types of trousers he should start with: a pair of smart / suit trousers, a pair of chinos and a pair of decent jeans.
- Smart trousers. Encourage your man to have a least one decent suit, which can be worn on several occasions with different shirts and ties! Go for a dark charcoal grey or even navy but try to stay away from plain black, it’s too boring! It’s often worth getting two pairs of trousers with a suit as they get more wear. If he wear suits to work, then you may want to splash out a little and he will need more than one!
- Chinos. For a more casual look, you need to have a nice pair of chinos or light-coloured trousers. It’s a good idea to have a couple pairs of these because he can wash them and iron them at home.
- Jeans. When buying jeans, invest in a nice pair of dark wash jeans with a clean cut and style. Make sure they fit well. Jeans will always look good and can be dressed up at night.
Shoes. You probably have at least two dozen pairs of shoes, men often only own one or two. They have a pair of trainers and some smart shoes. It’s quite probably all they need so make sure they are good quality. If you think they need more footwear so they could always have some quality boots.
What he must remember is that there is absolutely no excuse for wearing shoes that are not polished or worn out. Ideally, shoes will match the belt (and briefcase), so if he works in an office he may need a couple of pairs of shoes in different colours, obviously that compliment his suits!
