So what do you know about men’s pants?
Apart something lurks in there…
There was a time when men didn’t have many underwear options, but now they have nearly as many as we do! Here is GP’s guide to male underwear.
Briefs
Traditional briefs have an elastic waistband that sits at the waist, a Y-shaped front fly and about four inches of fabric that covers everything from the waist to the upper thighs, and the behind is always fully covered. Then there are mid-rise briefs, they are the same except they sit two inches below the waist at the belly button and low-rise briefs sit about three inches below the waist. All briefs provide great support his nether regions, so they’re an excellent choice for jobs that require sitting down all day or for physical activities.
Boxer shorts
In many ways, and for many people, boxer shorts have become the “classic” men’s underwear. Boxers are the loosest and probably the most comfortable of all styles. The shorts have straight-cut leg openings and cover part of the thighs and the whole behind. Boxers almost always have a working front fly. Tapered boxers are similar in nearly every way, the exception being that the leg openings are fitted to the thigh, with side vents to provide more freedom of movement. Fly fronts are not standard, but a front cup panel provides some support. Boxer shorts work well under suits or loose-fitting trousers. Unfortunately they do have a tendency to bunch up and they offer little genital support, so are no good for physical activities.
Boxer Briefs
Now these are popular, especially with us women, because we find them sexy. As the name suggests, boxer briefs are the middle ground between shorts and briefs. The underwear is cut like tapered boxer shorts but fits tightly like briefs. They have the big advantage of providing support and coverage in a way that can also define the lower trunk. These work well under all types of clothes but are especially good under tight trousers and for physical exercise.
Bikinis
Suprisingly not just for us ladies (although some may feel they should be!) Bikini briefs sit way below the belly button and the sides of the waistband are really narrow . They do not, for obvious reasons, have a fly. With string bikinis, the waistband is a string (obviously), leaving the entire thigh exposed The bikini still covers the behind entirely.
Thongs
Yes, really! There are thongs for men. With a thong, everything is cradled in a small pouch whilst a couple of pieces of string hold it up and together!
