Shaving can be a painful process if not done carefully and men can be as forgetful as us when it comes to shaving.
If your man doesn’t use the razor as often as you would like him too maybe he is just ultra sensitive!
Whether your man uses an electric or traditional razor, these shaving tips and advice for men will help him get the closest shave possible with the least amount of discomfort.
- If he looks sexy with a one day beard growth, get him to plan ahead and shave the day before a special occasion. To find out how quick it grows, do some testing. Write down when he shaves and the growth results several hours later to find out what suits him best (and what you like!).
- If his beard is graying and he is not happy with it, there are loads of do-it-yourself products available to colour beards, moustaches and sideburns. Help him!
- Electric shavers are still a man’s first choice for the quickest and easiest shave, but they can be a lot harsher on his skin than traditional razors. They will see better results if they use an electric razor on a dry face and pull their skin as tight as possible.
- If he is prone to blemishes get him to stick with an electric razor. Shaving with a blade will increase his irritation and will make him more prone to break-outs.
- Remind him not to shave over a sink full of water if he is using an electric razor! If he dropped his razor in the water, he may reach in to grab it by reflex.
- Make sure he maintains and oils his electric razor according to the instructions. This will keep it in top shape and help him avoid any wear and tear on his face.
- Men seem to prefer traditional razors in the hot summer months as they are generally more effective. The best disposable razors now come with pivotal heads that simplifies the shaving process around curves and will probably produce less nicks. Remember to keep his blades sharp to reduce irritation.
- Before he shaves with a traditional razor, get him to take a shower or apply a warm washcloth to his face to soften his beard (you can help!).
- He needs to apply shaving cream to his face when it’s still wet. He should pull your skin tight and shave with the grain of his hair growth. Throughout the process, dip the razor in hot water to rinse.
- Get him a good moisturiser specifically designed for after shaving. Read the ingredients before you make a purchase. Some aftershave lotions still contain alcohol, this will sting his face and result in a drying affect.
